Our main home is Assembly Roxy but some performances may take place at other locations across the city. Make sure to double-check your show’s page on our What’s On listings for its address.
You can find us at 2 Roxburgh Place, Edinburgh, EH8 9SU.
Public transport
By bus
- The nearest stops are located at Surgeons’ Hall, which is two minutes’ walk away.

By rail
The nearest railway station to Assembly Roxy is Edinburgh Waverley which is approximately 10 minutes’ walk away. The most direct route is via the Market Street exit and up the Scotsman Steps. The quickest step-free (albeit steep) route is via the Waverley Bridge exit and up Cockburn Street.
By coach
The nearest coach station is Edinburgh Bus Station which is a 20-minute walk away.
By tram
The nearest tram stop is located at St Andrew Square and is a 15-minute walk away via North Bridge.
Cycling
- Cycle parking
There is a large uncovered cycle rack located opposite the venue in front of the University of Edinburgh’s Lister Learning and Teaching Centre at 5 Roxburgh Place.
Taxis
Taxis can drop off passengers outside the venue on Roxburgh Place. When Roxburgh Place is closed to vehicles, passengers can be dropped off on Drummond Street, which operates as a one-way street from South Bridge/Nicholson Street.
Driving
Blue badge parking
There are no dedicated disabled parking places located close to the venue, but Blue Badge holders are permitted to park in the following locations in Edinburgh free of charge:
In public and shared on-street parking bays.
On single or double yellow lines when loading is allowed.
In greenway parking spaces where parking is allowed.
Blue Badge holders are not permitted to park in spaces reserved for residents unless you hold a permit for the relevant zone.
Assembly Roxy is located within Zone 3.
Nearest car parking
- Minimal on-street parking is available near Roxburgh Place outwith the August festival. Parking charges apply between 08:30–18:30, Monday–Saturday, Sunday 12:30-18:30 and parking is limited to a maximum stay of four hours.
- The nearest covered secure parking is located at 33 St Mary’s Street Travelodge.

Ground floor
Are located within Roxy Central beside the stage. It contains two individual stalls, one of which is wheelchair accessible.
Basement
- One room with five cubicles.
- One room with two cubicles and urinals.
Wifi
- Free wifi is located throughout the venue. Check out signage or as a member of the team for the latest connection information.

We're committed to ensuring that everyone who visits Assembly Roxy is made welcome and enjoys their time with us.
Our venue
Located on the corner of Roxburgh Place and Drummond Street in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, Assembly Roxy is a category B listed former church that dates back to the early 1900s.
The main entrance is accessed via one small step, but we also have a level access entrance available if required.
Our main performance space, Roxy Central, has level access, an accessible toilet and is step-free throughout.
We're afraid our smaller performance spaces, Roxy Upstairs (up 25 steps), Roxy Downstairs and the Snug Bar (down 18 steps), do not currently have level access.
We welcome guide dogs and hearing dogs, and our front of house team will be on hand to offer any assistance you might need.

Show information
We endeavour to share warnings about the content of shows in their online show listings, but any additional information, such as the use of strobe lighting or loud bangs, will be displayed prominently on arrival at the venue. If you wish to know more in advance of arrival, contact us at [email protected].
Accessible performances
A number of our shows will offer a BSL signed performance or relaxed performances where possible. Where these are available, they will be detailed on an individual's show page on this site.

We also welcome visitors who need to bring medicines, food and drink to manage a medical condition or any medical equipment.
At present, we are unable to support hearing loops.

Parking
The venue is situated on the corner of Drummond Street and Roxburgh Place. There is first come, first served on street pay and display bays situated right outside the venue max 4 hours. Hours – Monday to Saturday 0830 to 1830, Sunday 12:30-18:30. Ringo Location 12080. Nearest off street parking St Johns Hill NCP (5 to 24hrs.)
Blue badge holders will find a single yellow line outside the venue.

Entering the building
The Assembly Roxy is a former church, over one hundred years old and B listed, so not all of our spaces are fully accessible.
The main entrance on Roxburgh Place has one small step to gain access to the main foyer. Level access can be arranged through the Roxy Central ramped door. Please let us know in advance (or ask a member of staff on arrival) if you require to gain access through this door.
Booking support
It is advisable that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your performance start time, and to book ahead and let us know you are coming. Access bookings can be made via telephone.

Early Access
We endeavour to ensure everyone is able to enjoy their visit in a comfortable and secure environment. If you require extra time or a specific seat in our performance spaces please speak to a member of staff on arrival to the venue so we can allow extra time and/or reserve seats if required. We can provide paper and pen if you require to write anything down for our staff on entry/at box office.
Customers with Medical Requirements
If you need to bring food, drink or medication with you, we are happy to accommodate this. Please contact a member of staff if you need assistance. Our Duty Managers are all fully trained in First Aid.
Show Information
Some of our shows may feature loud bangs and/or flashing or strobe lighting. Any content warnings will be displayed at the show venue prior to the show beginning but please do ask our Front of House if you would like any more information on anything within each show or feel free to email [email protected] prior to your arrival. The venue hold a stock of ear plugs if required.
Essential Companion Tickets
Assembly Roxy are more than happy to provide free tickets to our shows for any essential companions. If you do require an essential companion ticket for one of our shows, please call our Box Office on 0131 623 3030 or email [email protected] or more information.
Access Dogs
Access dogs are more than welcome at the Assembly Roxy. Please do say hello to our friendly Front of House Assistants at the venue if you are arriving for a show who will be able to assist you.

Buying tickets
- The quickest and easiest way to purchase tickets for Roxy shows is online through our What’s on section. We use e-ticketing for all events, and you’ll find your QR code ticket in your confirmation email, which the team will scan when you arrive.
- For some events, we also sell tickets on the door, please check the event listing for the box office opening time.
