TV and filming

The Assembly Roxy is a former 19th-century church located in the heart of Edinburgh’s historical Old Town.

Comprising of four spaces, the atmospheric building has classic features and beautiful architecture. With flexible spaces and an alternative feel, the Roxy is a perfect space for photoshoots and filming including live or pre-recorded live streams.

Our spaces

Roxy Central

Our largest space encompasses the nave and aisles of the former church and is a very spacious and flexible room for filming. With tall ornate stone pillars and period features, the space dazzles when dressed or used as a blank canvas.

Roxy Upstairs

Our traditional theatre space seats up to 169 in an end-on raked setup. The black box space has a classic feel and can be configured to have a separate audience entrance from Roxy Central if required making it perfect for a film screening or launch.

Roxy Downstairs

This intimate studio accommodates 60 in a raked seating configuration and is suitable for smaller shoots, auditions or live streams.

Roxy Snug Bar

Located in the crypt, this cosy lounge area with bar is an ideal breakout space or use as a large green room or hospitality space.

Additional spaces

In addition to our primary performance spaces, the building offers several period backdrops including stained glass windows, stone staircases and original doors which are ideal for additional filming or photoshoots.
